Hong Kong, Victoria Peak

One of our first nights we spent in Hong Kong we decided to take the Peak Tram to the top of Victoria Peak, which is the center of Hong Kong Island.  This was after a day of walking in the humidity, I was not prepared for the heat!!  It was really neat to be able to see the Island all lit up at night.

 So on Sunday we decided to go back up to the peak and walk around.  We especially wanted to go back and try and find the place that Mom Hinton found where the date was etched into the wall where the city was dedicated for missionary work by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

 More shots of the city from the peak.  I was hoping to be able to see a real Junk Boat, but they are so scarce now, that I couldn't see one.

 Here is where you get on to ride the tram up to the peak.

It was such a cool view and we're glad we got to go up twice.  Especially to be able to see the dedication site.  We couldn't find it the first time because it was so dark, but not only is this a big deal for the church, but also for our family since Mom Hinton was the one who found the date.  I am not totally clear of all the details but they knew that Hong Kong was dedicated on a specific date and that is was somewhere up on the peak and then she found the exact date of the dedicated etched into the stone while they were waiting for Dad Hinton to catch up with them.  Just a neat story. And Dad Hinton would also bring the missionaries when they arrived in Hong Kong up to the peak and have them walk around and talk to them, so it was a great place for us to visit since Dustin also had memories there.
